Khyber Pakhtunkhwa skipper Younis Khan contacted Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan on Monday to apologise for his misconduct during the ongoing Pakistan Cup.

Younis quit the tournament and left Faisalabad, the host city of the Pakistan Cup, last week in protest against ‘substandard umpiring’ in the event.

The former Test captain, who is also one of PCB’s advisor on cricketing affairs, expressed willingness to participate in the remainder of the tournament. He said, “It was obligatory for me to participate in the premier ODI domestic tournament for the larger interest of the promotion of the game in the country.”

Younis had criticised match officials after his side’s loss to Misbah-ul-Haq’s Islamabad side. The veteran cricketer also showed his displeasure after KPK’s close win against Shoaib Malik-led Punjab on Friday.

The right-hander was subsequently fined 50 per cent of his match fee for his comments after which he left the tournament.
