Zayn Malik’s new album ‘Mind of Mine’ will feature a track sung in Urdu, titled ‘Flower’.According to a review in The New York Times, the song is 104-seconds long and appears in the middle of the former One Direction member’s debut. It features “gentle folk-influenced guitar” over which Malik sings “with deeply centered but controlled fervor”.

The lyrics to the track are: “Jab tak is mohabbat ke phool na khilay / Tab tak is dill ko sukoon na miley” (Until the flower of this love has blossomed/This heart won’t be at peace).

Zayn has previously revealed that he speaks Urdu – his father’s native tongue. After winning the award for outstanding achievement in music at the Asian Awards last year, he thanked his parents “for making me Asian, and for allowing me to have some sort of effect on the Asian community”.

Earlier this month Malik announced details of his debut solo album, including a unique approach to using caps lock. Titles on the album include ‘lUcOzAdE’, ‘fOoL fOr YoU’ and ‘rEaR vIeW’. US R&B singer Kehlani appears on the track ‘wRoNg’.

‘Pillowtalk’, the album’s first single, charted higher than any other song One Direction ever released in the US. The closest One Direction came to scoring a chart-topping Billboard Hot 100 single was with ‘Best Song Ever’, which reached Number Two in 2013.

In an interview with NME this week, Malik admitted that he hasn’t seen any of his former bandmates since before he left the band. “I tried to have contact but nobody’s reached out. So… whatever,” he said.
